A scenic swimming location on the western shore of Loch Muick, situated directly in front of the historic Glas-allt Shiel hunting lodge. The area features a lawn rolling down to the water's edge and is sheltered by surrounding trees.
A full circuit of Loch Muick on good tracks, starting from Spittal of Glen Muick Car Park. Passes Glas-allt Shiel hunting lodge on the western shore with views across to the surrounding Cairngorms peaks. Suitable for reasonably fit walkers. The classic ascent of Lochnagar (1155m), one of Scotland's most iconic Munros and immortalised by Lord Byron. Starting from Spittal of Glen Muick Car Park, the route climbs steadily via the Foxes Path to the dramatic corrie and summit plateau. Outstanding views over Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms.
A rewarding ascent of Broad Cairn (998m) from Spittal of Glen Muick Car Park, often combined with Cairn Bannoch for a classic Cairngorms ridge walk. The route follows the southern shore of Loch Muick before climbing to the open plateau with sweeping views over Royal Deeside.
